Pocketful privacy policy
Last updated: 2026-10-31. Plain words first; nothing here is hidden in small print.
Pocketful keeps everything on your phone. We run no servers for it, and we never see your cards.
What the app stores, and where
- Your decks, cards, photos and voice clips, when each card should come back, and your preferences (name, topics, reminder time, theme). All of it lives in the app's private storage on your phone.
- Nothing is uploaded. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
What the app can ask to use
- Photos: you pick one with the phone's own picker. We only receive the picture you choose.
- Microphone: only while you tap Voice to record a pronunciation. The clip stays on your phone.
- Notifications: only if you turn on reminders. At most one a day, at the time you choose.
Other permissions you may see listed
Android lists a few extra permissions that come from the scheduling library behind reminders: waking the phone briefly to run the reminder, starting again after a restart, and checking whether the network is on. They give Pocketful no access to the internet or to anything of yours, and Pocketful declares no internet permission at all.
What leaves your phone, and only when you choose
- Backup file: you can save a backup (decks, cards, photos, voice clips, preferences) to a place you pick. Where it goes after that is up to you.
- Spreadsheet export: the same, for one deck's text.
- Browsing AnkiWeb: "Browse AnkiWeb" opens your phone's browser at ankiweb.net. That is their website, not ours, and we see nothing about it. Deck files you download are read on your phone only.
- Email to us: "Write to us", "Suggest an idea" and "Tell us what happened" open your email app with a message you can read and edit before sending. A crash report contains the error and the app and Android version, never your cards. We read what you send and use it only to reply and to fix problems.
Deleting
You can erase everything on your phone from You > Erase everything, or by uninstalling the app. Deleted decks can be brought back for 30 days, then they are gone for good. Backup files you saved are yours to delete.
Children
Pocketful has no accounts and collects nothing, so there is no personal information to protect or share. It is made for people aged 13 and over.
Changes
If this ever changes we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
